*The ball-like Septarian Nodules began their life as sedimentary slime at the bottom of a Cretaceous Sea 50 to 70 million years ago. The sediment, consisting of decomposing plants and animals, formed into balls. Septarian nodules are composed of Aragonite, which is creating the brown lines. The outer grey rock is made of Calcite.
